Marketing Viewpoint by Ruth Winett How To Save Time Using AI Prompt Libraries Stop re-inventing the wheelMany of our tasks at work and at home are recurring tasks, such as writing a monthly report or creating a press release. Libraries of AI prompts now provide a way to streamline these tasks. Prompt libraries may be industry specific, company specific, or personal. AI prompts are detailed instructions for developing content and structuring it in a standard way. These instructions are more specific than instructions used in a single search using Google, Edge, or Safari. This is possible because of AI’s unique ability "to collate, organize, and articulate a vast sum of human knowledge," according to John Kaag, a UMass Lowell professor. How To Develop a Useful Prompt LibraryAs developing good AI prompts is a time-consuming and iterative process, consider saving effective, reusable, prompts-- where you can find them! The function of the saved prompts can range from using AI to conduct research or to enhance your documents, for example a marketing piece that needs livelier language or a more professional format. Reva Busby of West Monroe, a prompt library advocate, has created a prompt for crafting a sales email that includes "case-specific factors…including background information about the client, tone, and output format." She created another prompt for organizing notes from interviews of candidates. Some prompts are more “robust” than others, depending on her objectives. Emily Koehn of Crackle PR, reports that Crackle's AI prompt library assists with four types of tasks: "Writing press releases, collecting interview questions, writing blogs or articles, and research and summarizing." Google Gemini "can process text, images, and audio." Google says Gemini provides users with prompts that serve a number of different purposes: creating content; developing marketing strategies and materials; developing business plans and financial models; developing lesson plans, quizzes, or a curriculum on AI; formulating creative writing prompts; and creating coding prompts. It also provides healthcare, finance, legal, and other industry-specific prompts. Bottom LineWhether you are creating a one-off prompt or reusable prompts, you still must check the output for hallucinations ("nonsensical" or "inaccurate" AI observations”), incorrect data, and omissions of significant information. In such cases do more research and make the necessary corrections. Sources"What AI Can Never Understand," John Kaag, Boston Globe, 10/19/25, p. "An AI hallucination is a phenomenon where… a large language model (LLM) … perceives patterns or objects that are nonexistent or imperceptible …, creating outputs that are nonsensical or altogether inaccurate."
